If you loved “Pokémon Diamond” and “Pokémon Pearl,” then you might have been quite happy about the “Brilliant Diamond” remake that allows you to walk the same old hunting grounds as before. Unlike the previous games developed by Game Freak, the remake development was handed to a lesser-known study named ILCA, and they’ve surprisingly done a pretty good job of it. Even better, you can pick it up from Best Buy for only $29.99.

While Game Freak often tries to make remakes new and ambitious, ILCA went another route, creating a much more faithful recreation of the base game compared to other remakes of Pokémon. The main improvements are the graphics, with modern resolutions and quality upgrades, so you can enjoy “Brilliant Diamond” as if it’s a new game with the charm and enjoyment of the old.

The Underground has been revitalized and upgraded and is now called the Grand Underground. With Pokémon Fossils, a secret underground base, and Pokémon Hideaways, there’s quite a lot of content. It even has a new Super Contest Show so the game feels like a new experience.

The story remains mostly the same, as it should for a remake, and follows the typical Pokémon narrative you’ve come to expect. The Pokémon roster is the same as the original, so don’t expect any of the newer Pokémon to show up.

With over 40 hours of gameplay, this recreation of a game that is over a decade old is a fun way for both kids and adults to spend screen time. Grab a copy for Best Buy while supplies last!
