Naughty Dog show off changes to Tess

Naughty Dog has revealed that it is updating one of the key supporting cast members in The Last of Us for the game’s upcoming remake.

The studio posted a tweet earlier this week showing a comparison between Tess, who is Joel’s smuggling partner, in the original game that released nine years ago, and the upcoming remake, which is set to hit shelves later this year.

Annie Wersching was cast as Tess ahead of the 2013 original being released and Neil Druckmann has again heralded her performance.

Quote tweeting the Naughty Dog tweet, the company’s co-president wrote: “Annie Wersching destroyed us with her performance as Tess. Love that we get to better show off her acting chops with Part 1!”

Indeed, she looks all that much more human in the video, and also appears to have aged, potentially showing her as a more grizzled character in the world.

The game was officially announced at the Summer Game Fest showcase last week.

Naughty Dog has promised that the game will have a more modern gameplay loop, as well as modernised controls, and accessibility options that have been severely improved.

The game will release for PS5 in September but it will also eventually come to PC, with Naughty Dog currently working on the development of the PC game.

There will be three versions of The Last of Us Part 1; there will be a standard edition, a digital deluxe edition and a firefly edition. The standard edition is a full-price £60 release.

The latter will included a steelbook case, comics coming with the game, a number of early in-game unlocks and six weapon skins that can be unlocked and utilised in the game.

You’ll also get bonus supplements and bonus weapon parts if you pre-order.
